Our services and cost

Vaccinations help prolong your pets’ lives and protect them from a variety of potentially deadly diseases. California law requires that a rabies vaccination is given to all dogs over four months of age.

Our walk-in vaccine clinics are typically between 10am and 1pm. We offer rabies for dogs and cats ($10), distemper/parvo (DHPP, $10) and bordetella (oral, $15) for dogs and feline distemper (FVRCP, $10) for cats. We also offer $10 microchips, flea treatment and deworming medication.

We use Merial, Inc. vaccines exclusively. The rabies vaccine we use is IMRAB 3 TF and it's a thimerosal-free (mercury-free) formulation.

We also offer several Sunday pet vaccine clinics countywide throughout the year, when we charge $5 for rabies vaccines.

During all of our vaccine clinics, low-income community members can sign their dogs and cats up for a free spay/neuter through C.A.R.E.4Paws or contact us today to inquire about an appointment. See our clinic schedule to the left.

How to sign up

Our pet vaccine clinics are first come, first serve, so you do not need an appointment. Vaccines are provided between 10am and 1pm.

How many shots does your dog or cat need?

Puppies should receive three sets of distemper/parvo (DHPP) between the age of two and four months to protect them from parvo, which can be deadly. They need a booster every three to four weeks starting at two months. Kittens need three sets of feline distemper (FVRCP) between the age of two and four months. At three or four months, your dog/cat should also receive a rabies vaccine.

Once your puppy/kitten is up to date on rabies and DHPP or FVRCP, the vaccines are good for one year from the date given. The next time your pet receives vaccines, those vaccines will be good for three years each time they are given. For other vaccines for your dog or cat, please consult your veterinarian.

Why should you microchip your pet?

One out of three pets go missing. And without proper ID, 90 percent of lost pets never find their way home. A microchip is your pet's permanent ID. It's the size of a grain of rice and goes beneath your pet's skin like a vaccination. When scanned at a shelter or vet clinic, it reveals your contact information and your dog or cat can be returned to you. Our microchips are from Foundanimals.org and cost $10. We register the microchips for our clients free of charge.

Flea medication

We provide topical flea treatment such as Cross Block, Advantage II and Frontline Tritak. We charge $10 per dose of one-month flea treatment. At times, we also have oral flea treatment available, like Nexgard, for $15. We are a nonprofit that relies on donations, and so our supply of oral flea medication is usually limited. This means there are no guarantees as to what is available at a particular clinic.
