C.A.R.E.4Paws is gearing up for the 10th annual Wags n' Whiskers Festival on October 13 at Santa Barbara City College's beautiful West Campus Lawn, from 11am to 4pm. This year, our free, family-friendly event presents several great new attractions, and we expect a record number of festival-goers, vendors and sponsors. The largest pet adoption and animal festival on the Central Coast

 

Every year, Wags n' Whiskers joins the local pet-loving community for a fun day in the Santa Barbara sun, celebrating animals and the outstanding animal organizations and businesses that help our four-legged friends. Our event is free and family-friendly and promises a great time for humans and pets of all ages! 

Since our first festival in 2009, Wags n' Whiskers has become the largest pet adoption festival on the Central Coast, drawing hundreds of animal lovers every year. Our 10th annual festival takes place October 13 at Santa Barbara City College's West Campus Lawn and we aim for a record-number of adoptions.

Pet portrait professional Wendy Domanski with WinkFace Photography heads up our Pawparazzi Photo Booth, taking fun photos of your pet. We will choose 12 photos for our 2019 Best in Show Calendar.

Santa Barbara City College's West Campus Lawn is a beautiful spot overlooking West Beach and the Pacific Ocean, about five minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. There are 1,000 free parking spaces adjacent to the park area.

Chrissie's Fund is a private foundation that supports programs that reduce dog overpopulation, promote adoptions and help eliminate the suffering of dogs. Its funding is allocated primarily for bully breeds, large dogs of any breed and mix, and seniors. Advanced Veterinary Specialists (AVS) is a state-of-the-art 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital located near downtown Santa Barbara. The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise is made up of local business, professional, and civic leaders. They meet regularly, get to know each other and form friendships, and through that they are able to get things done in both local and global communities. The club is active in local service projects, including a free dental clinic that provides critical care to the underserved in our community. It purchases and distributes free dictionaries to all 3rd graders in the Santa Barbara Unified School District and recognizes at-risk youth at La Cuesta Continuation High School with a Student of the Month program. It also engages in hands-on improvement projects at Camp Whittier, part of United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County. Internationally, the Sunrise club supports a children’s orphanage and surgical eye clinics in Mexico in addition to funding clean-water projects, medical clinic improvements, and a pharmacy project in two rural communities in Nicaragua. Equine & Canine News was co-founded and created by Jessica Johnson-Segal, who was fulfilling a dream while serving a need for horse and dog lovers alike. Davey’s Voice, a Santa Barbara County 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2015 by Gretchen Lieff to honor Davey, a five-month-old puppy who had to be euthanized after enduring ongoing torture by his owner. Davey’s Voice was formed to speak out for future victims of abuse, and to educate the community so another animal does not have to suffer in silence as Davey did. Davey’s Voice supports projects and programs that promote animal welfare, reduce suffering, and save lives. Davey’s Voice advocates for harsher laws and stronger legislation against animal abuse.
