The 2012 Wags n' Whiskers Festival
On Sunday August 26, C.A.R.E.4Paws hosts its fourth annual Wags n' Whiskers Festival at Girsh Park in Goleta from 11am to 4pm. The event—the largest adoption festival in Santa Barbara County—features adoptable dogs, cats and bunnies from more than 20 animal shelters and rescue groups and showcases a wide range of local pet service providers and animal welfare groups. In previous years, the festival has inspired 30-plus dog, cat and bunny adoptions. Register now!
Festival-goers enjoy a long list of activities, including agility shows by Goleta Valley Dog Club, Flyball with the Santa Barbara Supersonic, police dog and search-and-rescue dog performances and dancing dogs. Dogs (and humans) can get styled on the spot by professional stylists and groomers. We also pay a special tribute to the "invisible shelter pet," great dogs and cats that somehow get overlooked in the shelter environment.
Local veterinarians and healthcare professionals will be there to share the latest in animal wellness, while Santa Barbara County Animal Services' Project PetSafe will provide low-cost vaccines, microchipping and licensing from 9am to 2pm. C.A.R.E.4Paws' fun and educational Pawsitive Thinking Kids Corner invites children and their parents to discover how to care for all living beings. Visitors can also steal kisses from good dog Petey in the Kissing Booth. Check out photos from our 2011 event here.
