PAWSITIVE THINKING SCHOOL EVENTS

C.A.R.E.4Paws and Pawsitive Thinking at Crane School
On March 23, students from Crane School in Montecito got a VIP Shelter Tour of DAWG and the Santa Barbara County Shelter to learn more about the animals living there, and how we can work together to prevent dogs, cats and bunnies from ending up in shelters in the future.

C.A.R.E.4Paws and Pawsitive Thinking at Cold Springs School
Throughout December and January, C.A.R.E.4Paws and Cold Springs School have collaborated on a Pawsitive Thinking project with a wonderful group of third graders. The project includes a classroom workshop about pet care; a VIP Shelter Tour where students got an in-depth look at the Santa Barbara County shelter and the animals living there (students are now writing a book with stories about the "project animals" they took under their wings); and an assembly presentation with all of the students at Cold Springs School, where our third-graders made the introduction (watch the video)
. Next up: a big fundraiser to benefit shelter animals and C.A.R.E.4Paws. Below are photos from the student workshop and assembly.

Pawsitive Thinking at Washington School's Science Night
On May 12, C.A.R.E.4Paws brought its Pawsitive Thinking program and special animal science projects to Santa Barbara's Washington School for the 2011 Science Night. The exhibit included "guess my breed" and spay and neuter displays and a science project in which students got to search for objects in a dog's belly (made up by a stuffed dog and a water melon half) with an endoscope. They also got to learn about and interact with adoptable dogs from the Santa Barbara shelter as well as C.A.R.E.4Paws' therapy dogs.

C.A.R.E.4Paws & Pawsitive Thinking at UCSB
On October 15, C.A.R.E.4Paws brought its Pawsitive Thinking program to UCSB during a special "I'm going to college" event for children from Harding Elementary. More than 150 students came to learn about animals and basic pet care.

Our amazing therapy dog Lillie is always a big hit.
Students got to listen to Lillie's heartbeat, learning that animals are a lot like us humans.
