TRAINING INTERVENTION

Workshops 4 Your Furry Friend
To help increase pet retention, C.A.R.E.4Paws offers FREE training classes with local trainers. These workshops (open to all breeds) are designed for dog owners struggling to obedience train their pets. Participants will learn about common dog behaviors and needs, dog socialization, leadership roles, basic animal care and how to integrate a dog into everyday family life. Contact us for more information or to sign up for the next session.

Project ResponsiBull
This three-part program encourages responsible pit bull ownership, with the goal of ultimately increasing adoptions rates, boosting pet retention and lowering the euthanasia rates of this breed—which faces an epidemic of homelessness. Project ResponsiBull is designed specifically for owners of pit bulls and includes FREE obedience training, FREE pit bull education and help with spaying or neutering of your pit bull or pit mix. Our next workshop(s):

  • ~ September 25, 2010
At Camp Canine with longtime dog trainer John Sorosky. Groups meets from 2pm to 4pm. Open to the public and shelter/rescue volunteers. Contact us to reserve a space for you and your dog.

About our three-part program:

> Part I: Pit-Ed
Do you want to help combat the myths and misconceptions about the pit bull breed? Learn about the dos and don'ts of owning this amazing breed and help restore its family dog image.

> Part II: Train a Pit
A large number of pits are relinquished to shelters because of behavioral problems their owners cannot manage. To help owners establish stronger bonds with their dogs, while learning some useful tricks and tools, C.A.R.E.4Paws has teamed up with local trainers to offer FREE basic obedience training.

> Part III: Fix a Pit
Owners of pit bulls can have their dogs spayed or neutered with help of C.A.R.E.4Paws. Why is it important to fix your pit? Millions of pit bulls die every year because there are not enough homes for them. In fact, only one out of 600 pit bulls will find a family of their own. With every litter of pit puppies born (pit females usually give birth to 8-11 puppies), it takes away from the already few homes willing to open their doors to an adult pit bull or pit mix waiting for his forever family. Please spay and neuter your dog to help reduce the number of pit bulls found in shelters and the high number euthanized each year! Altering your dog will also help improve behavior and can have huge health benefits.

For Pit's Sake
Pit bulls and pit mixes make up the majority of dogs found in local shelters. And because of the breed's bad rap, it's harder for a pit bull than any other type of dog to find a home. Want to learn more, and help dispel some of the myths and misperceptions about pit bulls? Download our educational flyer, available in both English and Spanish. You can also print this flyer to share with the public; click here for the high-resolution versions in English or Spanish.
