~ The 2010 Wags n' Whiskers Festival - August 29
C.A.R.E.4Paws' second annual Wags n' Whiskers Festival takes place at Girsh Park in Goleta (behind the Costco shopping center), 11am to 4pm, Sunday August 29. The event, sponsored by Montecito Bank & Trust, features adoptable dogs, cats and bunnies from 17 shelters and rescue groups throughout Santa Barbara County. The festival also includes more than 30 animal groups and service providers, such as Lemos, Dioji K9 Resort, OffLeash, Kiss My Mutt, Dog PAC, Comfortis and All For Animals.

Festival-goers will enjoy agility shows by Goleta Valley Dog Club and animal training demonstrations (including puppies, bunnies and dancing dogs) by Andra Bratt with K9s Behave, Camp Canine's John Sorosky and Nathan Woods with Loose Pooch. They can also learn about pet first aid and find out about the latest in animal wellness from local veterinarians. C.A.R.E.4Paws's fun and educational “Pawsitive Thinking Corner” invites kids to discover how to care for all living beings. Dogs can get groomed on the spot by Groovy Grooms, while wine tasting is provided by Carivintas Dog Lovers Wine Club.
 We encourage you to bring your own pooch as long as you keep your friend on leash and supervised at all times.
Getting there:
- Take the Storke Road exit off of the 101 Freeway,
- Head towards the ocean (away from the mountains) on Storke Road,
- Cross over Hollister Avenue,
- Pass McDonald's, The Home Depot and Fire Station 11 on your right, and
- Turn right on Phelps Road, which is the first street past the fire station.
- The park is on your right.
- The festival is held in the softball field area, where there's a picnic area and bathhouse. The closest parking lot is the second lot on your right hand side.

~ Mutts to Montecito
On February 20-21, 2010, C.A.R.E.4Paws co-hosted an adoption event at Santa Barbara's Montecito Pet Shop in support of the store's brand-new rescue/adoption program: Mutts to Montecito. The event featured more than 20 dogs and cats from Santa Barbara County rescues and shelters, including ASAP, DAWG, K-9 PALS, ResQCats, Shadow's Fund, Forever Friends Retriever Rescue, Second Chance Cats and French Bulldog Rescue.
