COMPANION ASSISTANCE bY C.A.R.E.4PAWS
These are tough economic times. Pet owners sometimes find themselves in an unexpected financial situation, either temporarily or as a long-term change in their lives. As part of the Companion Pet Assistance program, C.A.R.E.4Paws strives to assist pet owners with the feeding and basic care of their dogs and cats so that they don't have to relinquish their beloved companions to a shelter.

Program volunteers deliver pet food and supplies and offer assistance with pet care as needed to allow owners and their pet companions to continue living together. This includes help with pet grooming.

If a client's pet is in need of vet care, we work with the person's veterinarian to provide care (to the extent we are able). Because our medical aid funds are limited, we will only accept clients on a case-by-case basis.

Assistance with spaying and neutering of pets
C.A.R.E.4Paws collaborates with pet hospitals and veterinarians across Santa Barbara County to help qualifying, low-income pet owners fix their cats and dogs. As part of this program, we provide frequent “Spay Days” and individual appointments at participating pet clinics. It's our highest priority to ensure our clients' pets are altered.

Who qualifies?
Pet owners who could benefit from the Companion Pet Assistance program include:

~ Elderly and/or low-income individuals without the funds to purchase such necessities for their pets as food and cat litter.

~ Injured pet-owners who need temporary help with walking their dog or cleaning the cat's litter pan.

~ Disabled individuals who need help grooming their cat or dog, such as brushing and clipping nails.

~ Elderly individuals who need assistance with cleaning their bird cage once a week.

~ Any low-income household with a dog, cat, puppy or kitten that is not spayed or neutered.
